We all have our strengths, and they are not all the same which is why we are able to thrive as a society. Not having a certain skill set is not something to be ashamed of. I am a firm believer in adding to your business with people who fill the gaps.

Many people struggle with writing or they simply just don’t enjoy it and that’s totally okay! Unfortunately, though, for those people, writing is a big part of the business world. (I know, I didn’t expect it either!)

You have the obvious things such as blogs, website copy, but then there are things that you don’t think about until it’s on your to-do list and you keep avoiding it such as ads, email marketing, social media posts, sales pages, I can go on and on…

Luckily, there are such things as copywriters or ghostwriters, and they are everywhere! Check out below my top 5 places to find your very own copywriter:

• Facebook: Facebook is always going to be a top pick when searching to expand your business in any way. There are so many groups to join and network within and it absolutely provides some of the best access to some of the highest quality people out there! Not only is Facebook a great resource when it comes to your business, but you can also position your post for recommendations from the group members instead of applicants directly commenting. Some of my favorites groups for finding copywriters are The Virtual Assistant Savvies group, Social Curators group, and The Boss Project group!
• Upwork: This recourse is another favorite of mine and its kind of like a more professional Facebook. The big difference here is that instead of searching for rising talent within various groups, you are actually posting an official job posting and having potential copywriters apply to your post for potential employment. Once you post your job listing and people start applying you can see everything about the applicant on their profile including the number of previous jobs they’ve been hired for as well as reviews from their past clients! It takes the guesswork out of your hiring choices which definitely makes it a great option and allows you to streamline the process.
• LinkedIn: We all have an account on LinkedIn, do we go on it often? Probably not, but you know who does? People searching for jobs. This is similar to Upwork but less restricting in the rules since you can hire them outside of LinkedIn and on Upwork you hire through the site.
• Locally: This one is less common but brings things close to home which can be a bonus. My favorite way to find a freelancer locally is to pick up a couple of local magazines and usually within the first couple pages is the credits page where they list the writers. This is great because you can already read their work without having to contact them first.
• Networking Groups: A lot of us being virtual business owners tend to forget about these little gems. In-person networking is crucial to your business, not only to expand it but for hiring purposes too! Our businesses are our babies and when you hire from an in-person experience you gain a better feel for that person than you would if you only had a call or email exchange. One of my favorites is Rising Tide Society’s Tuesdays Together! There are chapters in almost every major city or country across the US and I definitely recommend checking it out and start making those connections!
