Are you looking to do a rebrand? Rebrands are an amazing thing, it’s like hitting the refresh button on your business. However, the button doesn’t deliver an instant result like we are used to. In reality, rebrands can take up to weeks and even months to complete!

Every company is different. There isn’t a set time for these things, it all depends on the size of your business, the type of rebrand you are doing, and your website size, that is if you have one (and you should but that’s a blog for another time!)

There are many phases to a rebrand that people tend to overlook. A rebrand isn’t a new logo and tagline, it’s so much more. Your rebrand doesn’t start with new colors and fonts, but with a long process of reflecting on you and your business to see which direction you want to go.

Knowing what you want is the most important step in a rebrand, and unfortunately, there is no time frame set in stone for getting there. Once you have this part done, things start moving more quickly (that’s the good news).

Moving right along to the design stage, you should dedicate at least three weeks to a rebrand to fully make sure you have everything ready to launch. This means, cleaning out your old brand from your company and having enough social posts and content to push out in the first couple of days. This process can take anywhere from a few weeks to a month or two, depending on the clarity you have of your brand.

Where rebrands get hairy is if you have a website, because not everyone is skilled in website design! Websites can take up to 6 to 8 months sometimes to be done correctly… I want that to really sink in…. fast website design should raise some alarms.

You have to understand that if you are choosing to hire someone to rebrand your website that it will take some time…the best thing you can do is have everything ready for the designer, so it goes as quick as possible! Once you have your new designs and theme to your business, maybe even a new name, you are ready to launch! Yay!!!!! This is the fun part!

Now, I don’t want to be presumptuous but I’m assuming the people reading my blog today are small business owners and not big brands like Coca Cola or Starbucks (Clearly, I like caffeine). For big brands such as the ones listed, it could take several years to roll out a rebrand, but for small companies, it might only take a week.

However, you have to have a rebrand announcement strategy. You may want to tease it for a few days before rolling it out to really build excitement, you may even want to go dark on your social channels if you like more of a dramatic entrance.

Once you have your rebrand finished, even if it took you 8 months, the best part is the last part: Rebrand party!!! That might just mean having some cookie dough and champagne while sitting on the couch starring at your new logos, and honestly, that’s the only way to celebrate.
